Baking Brownies with the Power of the Sun
In 2013, Greyston Bakery partnered with Green Mountain Energy to start baking our delicious treats with clean, renewable energy. Green Mountain Energy generously donated a 36-panel solar array, which effectively reduces Greyston’s carbon emissions. Brownies taste better with a bit of sunshine baked right in!

Eat your vegetables!
Eating fresh, healthy food is an important part of having a sustainable lifestyle. This summer, the bakers at Greyston partnered with our community gardens program to plant our first rooftop garden. Filled with tomatoes, eggplant, herbs and even a pineapple, the garden will be used to teach our team the value of good eating habits. Of course, we’ll be having brownies for dessert!
Volunteering to Be the Change!
Volunteering is an integral part of being the best Benefit Corp we can be. This year, Greyston collaborated with Ben and Jerry’s and the Enviro Earth Club to clean up the Saw Mill River. Employees and community members spent an exhilarating day pulling everything from car parts to bicycles out of the river. We can’t wait to serve the city of Yonkers again! We’re always looking for more volunteers, so head on over to our Team Greyston page to sign up!
